Biography
Binna Kim was born in Busan, South Korea. She spent most of her childhood in a very natural setting enjoying the ocean and mountains nearby. This rich natural environment inspired her to start making art with crayons and watercolors. Since then, nature has always been a huge part of her life and inspiration as an artist. As she grew up and her art career matured, she decided to become a professional floral designer to continue working closely with nature, creating floral and plant-based designs. Working as a floral designer and a window stylist for several renowned boutiques in New York City keep her surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants. For several years, she has been making on a weekly basis floral arrangements for Le Bernardin restaurant and Rainbow Room among other venues. Her window display designs were presented at Beretta, Madison Ave Gallery and Oxxford Clothes on Fifth Ave. In addition, her holiday decoration, designed for Le Bernardin Restaurant, was mentioned as "The Most Beautiful Holiday Decorations in 2017" in AD (Architectural Digest, 2017 link below).

Artist statement
In Binna Kim's artwork, particularly drawings, she aims to present a stimulating mixture of nature and a view from her vivid imagination.
Whether in colorful abstract works or visual interpretation of nature, the works demonstrate keen attention to the smallest detail in order to emphasize the depth of expression and emotive beauty of nature. This combination helps bring the audience to a different world, a stage for viewing scenery in an emotionally evocative way. While viewing the works, the artist's visual expression and interpretation by the audience merge and go hand in hand to evoke a memory, a passion, or a feeling unique to each of us.
Indeed, her works, whether it be detailed drawings or abstract paintings, aim to represent an exquisite, vivid and colorful emotional interpretation of nature's scenery.
In Serenity, Metamorphosis and Memories Drawing Series, the level of fine details and depth in each drawing aims to capture nature in many different and transformative forms, demonstrating Binna's curiosity and her eye for the unique beauty that nature has to offer. These works represent an invitation for each member of the audience to observe nature up closem while taking a contemplative, introspective moment to be at peace with themselves.
